First, understand the process

Before choosing a tool, follow a task from start to finish: who initiates it, what information it needs, who receives it and when it is considered complete. This reveals waiting time, duplicate steps and decisions that still depend on one person.

Choose one focused improvement

A good candidate is frequent, has clear rules and allows its outcome to be reviewed. An internal reminder or information consolidation can be a starting point. Define what happens when data is missing and who intervenes if something fails.

Measure before expanding

Record working time, errors and exceptions before and after the trial. Useful automation does more than execute: it helps explain what happened and recover the process when intervention is needed.
